![]() ![]() ![]() Twist rudder on the sticks is okay, but pedals feel so much better. They're great in flight sims, but especially in Elite. If you have the budget, I highly recommend getting Rudder Pedals. I always hear good things about CH Products, but the only CH Product I have used is my rudder pedals. You can't really go wrong with the Saitek X-52 either, I had that for a while and sold that for what I have now, but It's definitely quite good. It's a nice set, I particularly like it for Elite Dangerous mainly. lol.Ĭlick to shrink.I'm actually using Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS these days. Go lower if you expect to spend less time than even that.įolks can barely even read thread titles these days. Go high with a setup from CH Products, Thrustmaster, or Logitch/Saitek if you think you're a "thousand hour" person. My advice is to spend based on how much you think you'll engage with games like Flight Simulator, DCS World, Elite: Dangerous, and Star Citizen. In the end, the question is how immersed do you think you will want to be? And how many of these games do you anticipate playing going into the future? For how many hours, ideally? The recommendation for someone who would only expect to play a couple hundred hours is different from the recommendation for someone that anticipates putting in a couple thousand hours. As mentioned above, higher price tags tend to get you better built equipment with more buttons that can be customized, and additional features like rudder pedals flight Yokes ( ). You can get an entry level Saitek, Extreme3D, or Logitech and enjoy a demonstrably more immersive experience than you could get with a controller or KB&M. ![]() Sticks are NOT only worth it at the enthusiast level. But if you're just looking to start out, go with something under $100 unless you *know* you are going to be putting in lots of hours. Tightness of the controls, buttons (both in quality and quantity), durability, smoothness of the movements. There is a significant user experience gap.I believe Thrustmaster joysticks is probably a bit easier to set up a custom configuration. The configuration software has a very real learning curve.Pre-configured maps are available for most relevant flight and space-sim games.I literally never touch the keyboard unless it's to type a custom hello message to another player. I have well over 100 buttons custom configured for my Elite: Dangerous play.Their Pro line of products considered among the very, very best on the market. I own a Flightstick, Throttle, and Rudder Pedals from CH Products. ![]()
